MATH GRADE-1 SYLLABUS

 

 

Topics Covered:

 

1) Numeration, Addition, and Subtraction:

Building number sense: comparing numbers, ordering numbers, rounding to tens, hundreds, and thousands.

One, two, and three – digit addition and subtraction w/o renaming.

 

2) Place Value and Time:

Understanding place value, understanding time.

 

3) Data, Graphs:

Reading pictographs, bar graphs, line graphs.

 

4) Problem solving:

Looking for a pattern; analyzing word problems.

Goals:

 

To increase interest in Mathematics, and build the mathematical foundation for the future.

To understand the number sense, addition and subtraction concepts;

To introduce the basic graph reading skills to students;

To build the basic problem solving skills;

To prepare for the more advanced mathematical concepts.

Evaluation:

 

Evaluation is based on class participation, homework, quiz, midterm and final tests.
